Translation in Theatre - Thursday 23rd July 2020

Translation in Theatre - Thursday 23rd July 2020, 2pm-3.15pm

Theatre translator William Gregory, will be chairing a theatre translation panel discussion as part of the programme for the annual BCLT International Literary Translation & Creative Writing Summer School on Thursday 23rd July 2020, 2-3.15pm (BST). William will be speaking to Sam Pritchard (Associate Director - International, Royal Court), Anthony Simpson Pike (Associate Director, The Gate Theatre) and Trine Garrett (Co-Artistic Director, Foreign Affairs Theatre Company).

In a rare opportunity to talk with three directors whose work - and the work of the theatre companies they represent - regularly includes plays in translation, William Gregory explores the role of the translator in the theatre-making process, from choosing a play to begin with, all the way to putting it before an audience.

Due to the current crisis the Summer School will be taking place online. All of the plenary sessions will be open to the public and will be free of charge.
