The Translation Research Group originally came together in 1993, when Jean Boase-Beier established UEA’s MA in Literary Translation with Professors W.G. Sebald, Clive Scott and Janet Garton. Its ethos was to combine research with the writing of translations. When the BCLT officially became a research centre in 2015, the TRG was renamed the BCLT Research Group. Current members are Prof Duncan Large, Dr Cecilia Rossi, Dr Thomas Boll and Dr Jo Catling.
BCLT Research Group members lecture, write and offer workshops on a range of literary translation topics. They also run a PhD programme, from which around 70 students have graduated. TRG members have received grants and awards for their translations and research.
