When can I apply?

The deadline for the Norwegian-English workshop has been extended until 24 May 2013.

Applications for all other workshops closed on 7 May.  

How much does it cost?

For workshops translating from German, Finland Swedish, Norwegian, Portuguese and Spanish

£550 Residential fee including all tuition, accommodation for 6 nights on the UEA campus, breakfast, morning and afternoon refreshments and dinner. Wednesday is a free evening and dinner is not included.

£160  Non-residential fee including all tuition, lunch and refreshments. Excluding accommodation, breakfast and dinner. Dinner is available for an additional supplement.

£80  Special non-residential rate for UEA students only

Accommodation is in single en-suite rooms on the UEA campus.  Refreshments of tea, coffee, mineral water and a buffet sandwich lunch are included for residential and non-residential participants. Dinner is a served three- course meal with wine.

For the workshop translating from Japanese

This workshop is fully funded by The Nippon Foundation. A full bursary and a travel grant of up to £500 will be awarded to participants.

Are there bursaries available?

Travel bursaries of up to £250 are available for participants in the Finland Swedish workshop. These bursaries are supported by FILI.

Travel bursaries of up to £200 are available for participants in the Norwegian workshop. These bursaries are supported by NORLA

Bursaries of up to £500 are available for the Portuguese workshop.  These bursaries are for travel and/or registration costs and are supported by the Brazil National Library.

Please indicate on your application form if you wish to be considered for a bursary.

If you are applying for external funding for a  bursary, please do let us know.  We are happy to provide documentation in support of your application if required.

Complete the application form and send it to bclt@uea.ac.uk  together with a copy of your CV.

Please use the form to tell us about your practical translation experience, relevant academic qualifications and your enthusiasm and commitment to literary translation.   Applications are accepted by email only.  If you wish to apply and are unable to email your application please contact us.

We will acknowledge your application within two weeks.

The deadline for receipt of applications is 7 May 2013.

When will I know if my application has been successful?

Successful applicants will be notified of confirmation of registration by 31 May 2013. We will send you an invoice for the full registration fee which will be payable immediately.

Further applications may be accepted after the registration deadline subject to availability.

Should you need to cancel your registration you may do so until Thursday 4 July 2013. After this date we regret that no refunds can be given, unless the workshop is over-subscribed and another student is able to take your place.
