In 2018, we trialled our first Training the Trainer workshop strand and we are happy to announce that this opportunity is now available to apply for at the 2019 Summer School (21-27 July 2019).
This workshop strand is for experienced literary translators that have published work and would like to receive some training in leading literary translation workshops. 4-6 places are available on this workshop strand. If you are successful in gaining a place, you will spend the summer school week shadowing our experienced workshop leaders, including Daniel Hahn, Shaun Whiteside and Anne McLean. As well as shadowing the workshop leaders, you will have plenty of time to ask them questions about the process. We will also be running two dedicated workshops for the Training the Trainer cohort. These workshops, with Dr Cecilia Rossi (UEA) and another tutor (TBC) will address specific techniques, ideas and challenges when leading literary translation workshops.
The same residential and non-residential packages apply for the Training the Trainer programme. £700 residential and £400 non-residential.
To apply for the Training the Trainer workshop strand at the 2019 Summer School you must download and complete an application form (PDF) or the Word Version of the application form and email your completed application form to email@example.com with the supporting information:
- Attach an up-to-date CV.
- On a separate sheet, please tell us why you feel you would benefit from participating in the Summer School. Give details of your practical literary translation and creative writing experience, relevant academic qualifications, your enthusiasm and commitment to literary translation and creative writing and how you will benefit from attendance at the Summer School.
- If English is not your first language, please give your level of English language competency with any qualifications obtained.
APPLICATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED. We will contact all applicants after the deadline to state whether their application has been successful. Some of our workshops are oversubscribed, meaning that we work with our workshop leaders to choose a group that we feel will work well together. We are always happy to provide feedback on applications.
